SERIES OF SPECIAL EVENTS AT UMS

 

SPECIAL EVENTS FOR BRC 2008

 

Beginning this week, Universiti Malaysia Sabah will host a series of Special Events open to the public, leading up to and including next week’s Borneo Research Council 9th Biennial International Conference:

 

  • Public Lecture of the Kadazandusun Chair, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Wednesday 23 July, 8.00 – 11.00 am, at the Gallery of the UMS Chancellery (“Twin Towers”)
  • Photographic Competition and Exhibition on the conference theme BORNEO ON THE MOVE—CONTINUITY AND CHANGE, Monday 28 July to Friday 1 August, at the UMS Library
  • Special Art Exhibition including the “Kinabalu Series” by Yee I-Lann, and works by members of the Sabah Art Society, Monday 28 July to Friday 1 August, at the UMS Library
  • Borneo Research Council 9th Biennial International Conference, Tuesday 29 to Thursday 31 July, at the UMS Library (Registration = RM 350, or RM 175 for students; this includes conference bag, refreshments, attendance at all sessions and traditional musical performances)
  • Displays and stalls of Borneo handicrafts and publications, Tuesday 29 to Thursday 31 July, at the UMS Library

The Special Art Exhibition will be the first time that the “Kinabalu Series” of internationally renowned Sabahan artist Yee I-Lann has been shown in Sabah. 

 

Many Sabahan readers will be interested to know that that Miss Yee I-Lann who comes from Sabah, trained in Australia, based in Kuala Lumpur and has exhibited in Amsterdam, New York and other world art centres, is the daughter of Datuk Stan Yee, former Press Secretary to the Sabah Chief Minister, and his wife Datin Amy Jean Yee, the Principal of Sekolah Rendah Swasta Datuk Simon Fung.
